Our commitment to tomorrow's fashion
Established for over 30 years in the ready-to-wear sector, La Fiancée has evolved with the times.
With the desire to become an increasingly responsible brand, we have put in place since 2021, with the support of Sandra Wielfaert, CSR consultant specialized in sustainable fashion; a strategy aimed at framing our already established actions as well as our long-term objectives.
For us, a brand is also a reflection of the people who make it grow. At La Fiancée, every one of our employees is involved in our project to transition to a more responsible organization. (Give the project a name, e.g. "La Fiancee act").
Step by step, our collaborative work has enabled us to establish three key pillars:
> Developing eco-responsible and inclusive collections
> Reduce our environmental impact
> Act for the well-being of our employees and society as a whole.
Developing eco-responsible and inclusive collections
How we work
At La Fiancée we cultivate the heritage of sensible fashion by offering two
collections a year (spring-summer; autumn-winter), far removed from the fast-fashion world.
Our clothes are designed and imagined in France, at our head office in Saint-Gilles (35390) by our design team, then manufactured by our partner-manufacturers, most of whom are located in Asia.
Our approach is to offer ever more comfortable and original garments, according to the season, while always listening to our customers.
Every piece of feedback is precious. Our customers are a constant source of inspiration, enabling us to perpetuate our know-how and improve certain models year after year.
For example, every year we continue to offer our timeless basics and "favorites", reworking them with new prints and colors.
Above all, we want to offer a complete, colorful wardrobe that lasts, season after season.
The choice of inclusivity, for all Les Fiancées.
The French fashion market makes generous bodies invisible.
Women with "plus size" morphologies often find it difficult to get dressed. Clothes are not adapted and lack originality or color.
Since its inception, La Fiancée has been one of a small number of brands offering comfortable, elegant cuts, available in sizes 36 to 56 for most models.
In our design office, our research and development teams have always been trained to create products with inclusive fashion design, adapted to all morphologies.
Our manufacturing process
La Fiancée is a small, independent company with a family spirit, which advocates benevolence and fairness in its relations with its teams and suppliers. With travel, encounters and openness to the world written into the brand's DNA, La Fiancée has been growing and evolving with and through its partners, most of whom are located in India, for 30 years.
Why did you choose India to produce the La Fiancée collections?
Asia has always been a major source of inspiration for Pascale Mordret, founder of La Fiancée
A story of travel...
Not wanting to lock herself into a career in advertising, Pascale opted for adventure and set off to discover the Asian continent.
Her journey began in Thailand, where she fell under the spell of the colorful and exotic local crafts.
Determined to change her life and continue her journey, she found herself backpacking through the markets of Laos, Vietnam, Bali and India, hunting for wickerwork, jewelry and ethnic objects.
While there, she learned traditional weaving and printing techniques. She discovered the wealth of local know-how.
This apprenticeship revealed to her a true creative soul. She then set about making small series of Western-cut garments from ikats, batiks and wild silks in local workshops in Ventiane, Laos.
Once the garments are ready, she ships them to France and returns home.
In France, she introduces the garments to her circle of friends by organizing get-togethers. In summer, she can be found at markets; in winter, the clothes are sold to works councils.
The original, mixed-race style found its clientele; the machine was launched! The first silk collection from Laos is born
Mapping our clothes
With our manufacturing partners, we monitor the production of our collections from A to Z. We are in daily contact with the workshops to answer any questions they may have.
Our design team also makes regular on-site visits, 2 times a year, to strengthen ties with the factories and assembly team.
At present, most of our garments are made in Asia. Our original printed pieces are designed in India, while our more timeless items such as jackets, coats and basics are made in China.
For our jacquard sweaters, we chose Turkey for its renowned knitting expertise.
As far as our materials are concerned, we are striving to offer more and more eco-responsible materials that respect both people and the environment. Organic cotton, Ecovero viscose and recycled polyester are just some of the materials we have already incorporated into our collections.
To select them, we carry out quality tests (color bleeding, material stability, pilling) and toxicity tests (chemical risk assessment, REACH).
These tests enable us to ensure that our garments hold up well over time, and guarantee the absence of substances hazardous to health.
