What clothing style suits my body shape?

La Fiancée's tips for flattering all figures

At La Fiancée, we celebrate joy, colour and diversity. Because fashion has no size, but an infinite number of shapes, styles and ways of being yourself.

Whether you're short, tall, curvy, slim or all of the above, there's always a cut that will reveal your style.

And our mission is to help you find clothes that flatter your figure without ever pigeonholing you.
Body shape is not a label, it's a guide to harmonising your figure.

It is mainly defined by three points: shoulder width, waist size (more or less defined), and hip width.
The goal is not to ‘correct’ your body, but to play with volumes, fabrics and lines to create visual balance.

At La Fiancée, we talk about positive body types: every body is beautiful, every woman has her assets. And when a garment fits well, you immediately feel stronger, more confident, more like yourself.
A-shaped body type

The hips are more pronounced than the shoulders: a harmonious and natural silhouette that invites you to play with volumes between the top and bottom.

Objective: balance the lower body by drawing the eye upwards.

Tips:

- Opt for boat necklines, ruffles at the shoulders or structured jackets.
- For the lower body, choose straight or flared cuts, flowing trousers or A-line skirts.
- Choose light colours or prints for the top and more sober shades for the bottom.

Key pieces:

Flowing A-line dress (Doli Dress), bright printed blouse (Shayan Blouse), supple straight trousers (Rico Trousers), short fitted jacket (Majdi Jacket).

V-shaped body type

The shoulders are slightly more structured than the hips: an elegant and assertive silhouette that is easy to harmonise by playing with volumes and fabrics.
Objective: soften the upper body and add volume to the lower body.

Tips:

- Choose V-neck or rounded necklines and flowing fabrics to avoid stiffness.
- For the bottom, opt for flared skirts, wide-leg trousers or bootcut cuts.
- Play with prints and bright colours on the bottom to balance the look.

Key pieces:

Flowing printed trousers (Chester), flared midi skirt (Ava), plain blouse (Enola), long cardigan (Sacheon)

H-shaped body type

The shoulders, waist and hips are aligned. Straight, elegant silhouette.

Goal: create movement and redefine the waist.

Tips:

- Choose fitted jackets, belted dresses or knotted shirts.
- Flowing fabrics and soft materials add naturalness without stiffness.
- Add vertical prints or centre buttoning to elongate the silhouette.

Recommended items:

Wrap dress (Sine), flowing belted blouse (Top Bill), high-waisted trousers (Keika trousers), light fitted jacket (Catline jacket)

X-shaped body type

The shoulders and hips are aligned, and the waist is defined: a balanced and graceful silhouette.

Objective: emphasise the waist without overloading the silhouette.

Tips:

- Fitted cuts, wrap dresses, high-waisted skirts and structured jackets are your allies.
- Soft but not tight fabrics hug the silhouette without constricting it.
- V-neck or sweetheart necklines enhance the bust.

Key pieces:

Belted dress (Tessy Dress), high-waisted flowing trousers (Xian Trousers), fitted blouse (Celia Blouse)

8-shaped body type

Your shoulders and hips are beautifully symmetrical, enhanced by a defined waist: a harmonious silhouette that can be enhanced with cuts that follow your natural curves.

Objective: to highlight the defined waist and natural femininity.

Tips:

- Choose belted dresses, empire cuts or belted jackets.
- Flowing and structured fabrics hug the body beautifully without being too tight.
- Avoid overly thick fabrics or loose cuts that hide your curves.

Key pieces:

Fitted dress (Urika dress), flowing straight trousers (Jona trousers), belted low-cut top (Félicie top), belted coat or jacket (Majdi jacket)

O-shaped body type

The shapes are round and harmonious, often with a slightly defined waist.

Objective: to elongate the silhouette and create an effect of lightness.

Tips:

- Choose flowing, matte fabrics, straight or A-line cuts, and open necklines.
- Play with shades or monochrome harmonies to visually elongate the figure.
- Avoid clothes that are too tight or too loose: the key is to find the right balance.

Recommended items:

Flowing empire dress (Ysee dress), subtle printed blouse (Oco blouse), structured straight-leg trousers (Reck trousers), open jacket (Anete jacket)

Believing that there are rules : prints, bright colours and fitted cuts suit everyone. It's all about balance and attitude.

Wearing clothes that are too baggy : they don't hide anything, they just make you look bigger. It's better to go for a flowing cut that follows the movement of your body.

Denying your insecurities : don't deny them, cleverly work around them by highlighting your assets.

Trust your instincts : if you feel good in an outfit, it suits you, regardless of the ‘rules’.
Every woman has areas she loves and areas she doubts. The idea is not to erase them, but to play with the way they look.

Think your tummy is too prominent?

Opt for A-line dresses or a flared shirt to create verticality.

Flowing fabrics and subtle prints are perfect for softening the area.

For example: Doli Dress - Rey Shirt

Strong arms?

Opt for three-quarter, raglan or kimono sleeves in lightweight fabrics.

A single colour between the top and the sleeves avoids cutting off the line of the arm.

For example : Laurie tunic

Prominent hips?

Opt for plain, flowing bottoms and bright or printed tops to balance the look.

For example: Xian trousers – Vanpur top

Large bust?

Choose discreet V-necklines, matte, non-stretch fabrics, and avoid large patterns on the bust.

For example: Julia T-shirt

Petite frame ?

Go for monochrome outfits, high-waisted cuts and vertical lines to elongate your silhouette.

For example: Maya trousers – Bansara jacket

Large size ?

Soften the vertical lines with layers, placed patterns and soft contrasts.

For example: Long coat Beka – Midi skirt Elena
