Our fabrics
Recognizing the environmental impact of the fashion industry, La Fiancée is committed to incorporating more and more sustainable materials into its collections. Our commitment to sustainable materials is indeed a top priority at La Fiancée! In fact, we strive to offer an ever-increasing selection of eco-friendly materials that are safe for people and the environment, as well as durable and comfortable. Natural materials take center stage in our summer and winter collections alike.
Our fabrics are carefully selected by our design team to highlight the cut and colors—and they’re always ultra-comfortable—so you can keep these pieces in your wardrobe for years to come! At the same time, quality tests (colorfastness, fabric stability, pilling) and toxicity tests (chemical risk assessment, REACH) are conducted throughout our entire production chain.
When it comes to composition, we prioritize 100% pure materials whenever possible to make the end-of-life process for our clothing as straightforward as possible and to align with the principles of the circular economy. Indeed, clothing recycling is very important when it comes to sustainability. A fabric made of a single material (100% cotton, 100% wool, 100% polyester, etc.) can be sorted and processed into new fiber much more easily than a blend of fibers, whose components are virtually impossible to separate using current technologies.
Here are a few examples:
Organic Cotton
At La Fiancée, natural materials take center stage, but cotton is the brand's signature fabric.
A staple in every La Fiancée du Mekong collection since the brand’s inception, cotton and all its variations—such as cotton voile and cotton gauze—dress every bride in cotton voile tunics, cotton gauze blouses, lightweight cotton pants, and a wide selection of cotton voile dresses.
For several years now, our cotton has also been organic, yet it remains comfortable, lightweight, and durable. Like all 100% cotton fabrics, cotton voile is breathable, hypoallergenic, and easy to care for—it’s machine washable. Cotton is especially comfortable to wear in the summer, but it can also be worn year-round! Cotton is printed in vibrant colors and features exclusive patterns designed by our creative team in St. Gilles, Brittany.
Cotton & Lin
Lin is a particularly sustainable material that requires few resources to grow and remains very strong after being processed into fibers.
Hypoallergenic and temperature-regulating, linen is a natural insulator that offers comfort and lightness in both summer and winter. It is a trusted ally for even the most sensitive skin.
At La Fiancée, we’ve chosen a cotton-blend fabric so we can make the most of these two natural fibers. Our cotton-linen blend garments combine the softness and durability of cotton with the temperature-regulating properties of linen.
Viscose LENZING™ ECOVERO™
Soft and flowing like silk, with vibrant colors and an elegant drape, our EcoVero®-certified viscose is the perfect fabric for a woman’s wardrobe. Available in a wide range of garments—dresses, shirts, pants, skirts, and blouses—there’s no shortage of options for styling this beautiful, comfortable fabric.
LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose is an eco-friendly material made from wood pulp sourced from sustainably managed forests certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or the Pan-European Forest Certification (PEFC). The processing of its fibers generates up to half the emissions and uses half the water compared to the production of conventional viscose.
Recycled polyester
Chosen for its drape and durability, recycled polyester (PET) is featured in several key pieces from La Fiancée’s collection. This material is derived from the recycling of existing products such as textile production scraps, plastic bottles, and used clothing. These items are shredded and transformed into pellets. They are then melted down to form a yarn, which is woven into fabric.
From an environmental perspective, it is a significant alternative for reducing the waste generated by polyester production, which is found in the vast majority of women’s fashion collections.
